Don't miss the opportunity to come on board the first 4 day plein air painting festival in England. Based in an area oozing with Artistic heritage; where Cotman, Bright and Stannard of the Norwich School found inspiration, where Seago lived and where many of todays artist’s come to paint. There is rarely an art instruction magazine that does not feature a view of Norfolk mills and the Broads.
A BRUSH with THE BROADS will be based at Clippesby Hall an Enjoy England 5 star venue, with Lodges, Cottages and a touring site, the facilities here enable provision for demonstrations and workshops and an on site restaurant, bar & coffee shop etc for socialising. In the glorious woodland setting artists may find their inspiration very close by. Each day artists will choose their painting venue, paint on site returning to take part in evening workshops and talks as they wish.
The Norfolk Broads is the only member of the National Park Family to have a city within it’s boundaries, we cannot ignore Norwich the fine mediaeval city on our doorstep. On the Sunday a “Quick Draw” is planned; at three different venues artists will paint for a timed 2 hours, sponsors award prizes and the artwork is on sale in the city during the afternoon. Day tickets will be available for this event enabling more artists to be involved on the day.
All painting supports are stamped, so we know exhibited work has been produced during A BRUSH WITH THE BROADS.
The venue for the final exhibition on Monday will be at The Boathouse on the shore of Ormesby Broad; the prestigious events venue owned and run by Mike and Belinda Minors, who are well known for their welcome and quality at Waterside Restaurant, Rollesby When is it happening? the dates are 25 - 29 September 2014. The provisional plan for the weekend (see below) is in no way finalised; it is a work in progress at this time. If you are in the art world you will know that en plein air painting has had a great revival in the last few years, and my research has shown a great desire for an event just like A BRUSH with THE BROADS.
I am a professional artist who runs their own successful business of over 14 years, with a passion for painting and the area in which I live and work. On the executive of Broads Tourism;(umbrella group Visit England) having a foot in the camps of art and commerce I feel that tourism businesses are missing a link to a valuable market.
My previous career as a Metropolitan Police officer has given me the skills to look from the outside and plan strategically and methodically. I intend A BRUSH with THE BROADS to be a prestigious event that will become an annual on the arts calendar.
